Grade 6 English Language Arts - Learning Experiences
TUSC - Totally Unusual Speaking Club
TUSC is a highly structured activity that allows all students in a class to learn and practise communication skills. At a chosen time in each school cycle, all students gather to talk and listen. Each student has a special role. Over a period of weeks, students rotate through all of the essential roles and participate in many of the optional roles.
Students (in groups of 4-6) collaborate to build a digital story summarizing the novel entitled, Silverwing. They create artistic sketches pertaining to the novel and prepare summary narratives to guide the story along with pictures.
Students keep an online journal of important learning experiences, extracurricular activities and personal experiences in order to develop ELA writing and reflection skills and typing skills.
